Belit - ili Lady of the Gods - The Journy of Man Suite - Mythological Narrative
Belit - ili 'Lady of the Gods ('Akkadian) wife to Ea (Arcadian counterpart to Enki - 'Adam') in Sumerian mythology she is Ninhursag or Ki, the Earth and Mother Goddess. Ninhursag means 'Lady of the foothills'. She was also known as Nintur. 'Lady Birth'.
As wife of Enki she was called Damgalnuma, also called 'Mammu' the origin of 'mother'.
Her son was NIN.UR.TA 'Lord who completes the fountain'. In Egypt, she played the roles of several creational Goddesses - Maat, Hathor and Isis.
Erishkigal (also thought to be Ishtar) was an ancient Mesopotamian goddess, the Queen of the Night, goddess of sexual love and war.
